Comprehensive Trial Representation throughout Western Arkansas

At the law office of Self Law Firm, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, I engage in a general trial practice, with an emphasis on criminal defense work, plaintiff's personal injury representation and bankruptcy law (Chapter 7 only). My general practice also includes representing couples and individuals who want to adopt a child and, occasionally, birth parents seeking to place a child for adoption. As a trial lawyer I represent people throughout western Arkansas, primarily in Sebastian, Crawford, Franklin, Logan and Scott counties.

My Criminal Defense Practice

Before I went into private practice, I served as the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Sebastian and Crawford counties, a position that taught me a lot about how to prosecute and defend criminal cases. If you are charged with a crime, I can handle your case. I have extensive experience in criminal defense work, having defended a wide variety of criminal actions, from traffic offenses to homicide. You have constitutionally guaranteed rights when charged with a criminal offense. I will fight to ensure that your rights are protected. Mediation - the Effective Alternative

Mediation can work well in divorce and custody, contracts, and personal injury cases when the goal is to find a solution that everyone can live with. With my broad background as a trial attorney, I know what normally drives people to litigation. During mediation, I look for sensitive spots and try to address them.  From experience as a legal mediator I can point out options and reasons to settle without going to court.

My Bankruptcy Practice

Serious money problems are not the sign of failure. Financial difficulties can beset anyone. The federal bankruptcy laws give you a way to have a new start. I handle only personal bankruptcies and my bankruptcy practice is limited to Chapter 7, or so-called straight or liquidation bankruptcies.
